GeoAnalytic Inc. has developed an integrated ice surveillance system which provides:
During the ice season, routine monitoring of the ice conditions is a requirement which can be accomplished using economical satellite imagery. There are several satellites that GeoAnalytic Inc. has access to for ice surveillance, including Radarsat, Envisat, and MODIS. The most flexible and reliable sensor for operational ice monitoring is Radarsat. This satellite was specifically built to monitor ice in the Canadian Arctic. Radarsat data can be collected day or night, regardless of weather, and the data can be delivered within 4 hours of being acquired. Envisat, the European radar satellite, complements the coverage provided by Radarsat, allowing greater flexibility and imaging frequency. supplementing radar imagery with polar orbiting, optical satellite imagery, particularly MODIS, can provide daily images, subject to cloud cover, anywhere in the world.
